Test and Publish Solution Translations

When a board admin uploads a resource file to a solution locale, the translations apply only to the solution's Build environment. This allows you to test the translations in Build before publishing them to Production along with the solution.

Common (Board) translations aren't published. Uploads to Common locales apply to both the Build and Production environments immediately. See Configure Board Settings.

Test Translations in Build

You can test a locale in the Build environment as soon as its resource file is uploaded. To test solution translations, follow the steps below:

  1. On the Board Settings | Profile screen, select the locale you want to test in the Locale field, then select Save changes.

  2. In Solutions Studio, navigate to the solution and preview the area you want to test:

    • Workspace app pages - Open the page in the editor and select Preview in the upper right.

    • Intake sequences - Select the preview icon.

    • Interfaces - Open the interface in the editor and select Preview in the upper right.

The Tonkean homepage and the workspace app pages you access from the menu in the upper right are in the Production environment, so they don't display translations uploaded to Build. To test workspace app pages in Build, use Preview in Solutions Studio.

As you test, confirm that:

  • Text displays in the selected language. Any string without a translation displays in English (United States).

  • For right-to-left languages, such as Arabic, the entire interface displays right-to-left.

  • Dates and numbers, including date and number pickers in forms and filters, are formatted for the selected locale.

Publish Translations to Production

When you've finished testing, publish the translations to Production with the solution. To publish solution translations, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Board Settings | Translations screen.

  2. In the section for the solution, select the Ready for publish checkbox for each locale you've tested and are ready to publish to Production.

  3. Navigate to the solution and select Publish Solution in the upper right. The publish window displays a Translations row indicating the number of locales marked ready for publish.

  4. Select Continue and complete the publish flow. The selected translations are published from Build to Production along with the solution.
