Workflows and Business Logic
Tonkean Standard modules (each containing a core piece of process logic) are organized into distinct sections. Most of these modules are locked from being edited directly. However, you can duplicate many of these modules to create custom variants as needed.
The module overviews provided below are primarily for explanation purposes. Users generally do not need to understand these modules in depth, as they're locked from being edited and are managed/updated by Tonkean.
Note that your specific modules may differ from the list below; customer implementations feature a unique combination of these modules, tailored to their specific tech stack and process.
Intake Journey - Coordinates the entire intake process, including gathering requester information, assigning questionnaires, applying policies, and more. This module uses specialized modules in the Journey Steps section for various functions.
Journey Steps - Dedicated modules leveraged by the Intake Journey module—these are the basic building blocks of the intake journey that the requester follows to submit a request.
Assistance Request - Basic logic for initiating the request.
Requester Information - Gathers requester information.
Intake Step - Controls behavior of the intake process.
Summary Step - Calculates and summarizes the request, displaying fields as configured in Preferences.
Orchestration - The coordinated management and automation, ensuring that all necessary steps are efficiently handled and synchronized to achieve a seamless and effective flow.
Processing Orchestrator - Orchestrates all reviews and sub-processes to resolve a request.
Questionnaires Manager - Handles questionnaire logic, based on your configured policies and preferences.
Request Classifier - Categorizes/classifies requests to determine which policies should apply.
Requests Management - Handles request triage.
Reviews Orchestrator - Handles review logic based on policies and logic —configured in your preferences.
Reviewers - Handles review assignments and processes.
Questionnaires - Manages questionnaires—both internal and external.
Process Steps - Manages core processes, adapting to additional processing steps added in your preferences.
Communications - Manages communications and notifications based on your configured conditions.
Administration Modules - Handles miscellaneous administrative tasks.
Agents - Manages Tonkean AI agents.
Intake Journey - Manages the AI agent logic for intake processes.
Team Availability - Monitors team availability to inform process logic.
Workspace Apps - Reporting, Dashboards, and Collaboration
Workspace app pages are where users view requests, track request or task status, search for process information, or view reporting data.
Workspace app pages are fully customizable—the standard solution simply provides a generic starting point with the most common elements.
All Requests - Users can view all requests they have access to, as well as search across the Tonkean solution for requests, reviews, and more.
My Requests - Users can view requests they’ve submitted. This is the “request tracker” referenced elsewhere in this guide.
My Reviews - Users can view reviews assigned to them.
Direct Manager Review - Users can view reviews assigned to their direct manager(s). This is an example review page. You can create additional review pages in this style for each review in your process.
Request Reporting - Users can view metrics for their requests, including number of requests submitted, completed, and so on.

Preferences is the primary configuration interface (much like an admin console) where admins and makers set up core business logic.
